Barney Johnston moved from the great state of Texas to Nashville, Tennessee in 1989. From 1989 to 1994, he earned a B.S. in Music Business from Trevecca Nazarene University. Since then, he has been playing bass for recording Artists such as 2 time Grammy  Award Winning Rebecca Lynn Howard, New West Artist Stephen Bruton, 2005 Nashville Star Winner Erika Jo, Compadre Artist rent Willmon, Curb Artist Ashley Gearing, Warner Bros. Artist Whitney Duncan, Seth James, Shannon Cain,  Michael English, David Phelps (from the Gaither Vocal Band), Scott Riggan, Jaime Harvill, Billy Yates, Woody Bradshaw, The Broussards, Derryl Perry, Razzie Bailey, Chuck Allen Floyd, Rebecca Frederick, and Arlene Gutierrez. He has done showcases for up and coming artists such as: Jay Speight, Keith Smith, Dede Day, EzraJane, Candy Coburn, Clay Underwood, Mayberry Down Under, Alvarado Road Show, and Jamie Fox.

Barney is currently touring with Curb Recording Artists Lee Brice and Star DeAzlan,  and with Show Dog Recording Artist, Trailer Choir.
